Rank-earned stash capacity and connection failures after queuing
The backend hotfix corrects a season-transition issue that reduced stash capacity to its base size for players without DLC, removing space earned through rank progression. It also fixes a connection problem that could occur after waiting in a server queue.
Keep the Rogue Ops launch separate from the game’s original Steam Early Access release on April 30, 2024. Rogue Ops is already live for the Windows game available through Gray Zone Warfare on Steam.
Soft Wipe Rules and Your Character Transfer
The progression changes in these Gray Zone Warfare patch notes deserve attention before you commit to a game mode. Update 0.5 uses a seasonal soft wipe: your completed progression survives, while your equipment and spending power reset.

Remains the same
When entering Rogue Ops with an existing character, you must choose which game mode receives that character’s progression. That transfer choice is irreversible. Check whether you want the character in PvE or PvEvP before confirming.
You can now create up to four characters across factions and modes, with one character allowed per faction-and-mode combination. Account wipes have been retired, and you can delete one character per week.
Use the additional slots to create characters in other factions or modes rather than deleting a character simply to explore another combination. Keep the weekly deletion limit in mind when managing your roster.
The stash-capacity hotfix is separate from the seasonal inventory reset. It addresses space earned through progression; the soft wipe still resets equipment, locker contents, and money.
Hideout Crafting, Hacking, and Smuggling
The central progression addition in the Gray Zone Warfare patch notes is the Hideout. After reaching the required vendor ranks, you unlock a personal operation where scavenged resources become useful equipment and products you can sell.
Build Your Production Rooms
Your Hideout has two production rooms and a utility room. Their stations can be constructed and upgraded, with visual changes reflecting those upgrades.
Room
Main function
Products or resources
Laboratory
Medical and chemical production
Medical items, stims, and substances for sale or further crafting
Electronics Workshop
Disassembling devices and producing electronic tools
Intel, crafting materials, tracking tags, and hacking tools
Utility Room
Supporting production
Power for the production rooms
Construction and upgrades require resources gathered in the world, crafted, purchased from vendors, or received as task rewards. Crafting also uses recipes found throughout Lamang.
Check your station requirements before selling materials. Both construction and production draw on resources, so keep the items needed for your next planned upgrade.
Stims and tracking tags now require crafting instead of vendor purchases. Adjust your resupply routine around production, particularly if those items were regular parts of your loadout.
Drug huts provide another resource destination. These faction-controlled locations contain supplies for Hideout Laboratory production.
Use Hacking Tools for Electronic Locks
Hacking opens certain restricted areas without a key or code. Carry an appropriate device to bypass supported keypad and card-reader locks.
The universal hacking tool has three tiers, corresponding to different electronic security levels. Some areas and safes require hacking for access.
Check your tool’s tier before planning a trip around an electronic lock. Carrying a device does not give it access to every security level.
Choose Between Selling and Smuggling
Hideout products can be sold to vendors for a lower, safer payout or used in riskier smuggling operations.
Smuggling tasks impose a time limit covering preparation, contraband-backpack pickup, and delivery. Successful runs award money and vendor reputation.
Accepting a task alerts opposing factions and creates Hunting zones on the map. Hunters can intercept smugglers for experience and vendor reputation; in PvE, smugglers face AI enemies instead.
Prepare your production resources before accepting a timed operation. Account for the pickup and delivery legs when planning your route, and expect opposition once the task begins.
AI and Medical Changes That Affect Every Fight
The combat side of the Gray Zone Warfare patch notes changes both enemy pressure and your response to injuries. AI reacts faster, uses cover more deliberately, and introduces threats that make stationary defense less comfortable.
Expect Grenades and More Aggressive Searches
Some AI factions can now throw grenades. NPCs may carry up to three depending on rank, coordinate their throws, and attempt to avoid hitting fellow soldiers.
Enemies also search for players in a coma and attempt to finish them off. Cover downed squadmates before starting treatment, and move when a grenade threatens your position.
AI now acquires targets faster, retains them longer, and switches targets more consistently. Soldiers can investigate your likely route after losing sight of you, taking separate paths rather than moving together.
Avoid repeatedly exposing yourself from the same position. When enemies flank your cover or push toward your last known location, reposition before resuming the fight.
Overall AI difficulty has increased in Fort Narith, Midnight Sapphire, Tiger Bay, and the new Tier 4 areas. NPCs also treat injuries when safe, while remaining engaged when players are nearby.
Rebuild Your Medical Routine
Treatment now works around affected body parts rather than individual wounds, while bleeding rates have been reduced.
Medical change
Practical effect
Body-part treatment
One splint application can treat both fractured bones in the same leg
Revised bleeding
Each affected body part contributes one bleeding source
Volume-based consumption
Blood bags and drinks use the amount needed instead of a charge
Medical quality
Higher-quality items work faster; military supplies are more effective than civilian alternatives
Broader bleeding treatment
Bandages can cover multiple body parts; hemostats and tourniquets stop bleeding across all body parts
Stopping bleeding does not remove pain from an untreated limb. Severe arm injuries cause tremors and reduce maximum arm stamina, while leg injuries reduce maximum body stamina.
Check the expanded health tooltips after controlling blood loss. Treat the remaining injury rather than assuming the absence of bleeding means your character has recovered.
New Weapons, Tier 4 Locations, and Loot Changes
These Gray Zone Warfare patch notes add seven firearms:
Benelli M4
FAMAS
G3
G36
Glock 18C
Steyr AUG
UMP
Most new weapons are found in the world rather than purchased from vendors. The detailed update adds 370 weapon parts, including 22 collimator sights with color and reticle variants, plus 4x and 6x magnifiers.
Weapon and weapon-part durability increases by 40%. Rare weapon builds can appear as loot, and six unique firearm camouflage variants join the customization options.
Separate scope sensitivity settings and adjustable magnification slowdown give you more control over aiming. Review those settings before deploying with unfamiliar optics.
Explore the New High-Tier Areas
Three Tier 4 destinations expand Lamang’s story and combat challenges.
Location
Identity
Story focus
RLSL-1
Radio Observatory
A former Soviet listening post with renewed military activity before the Event
Lakevale Sanctuary
Asylum
A medical institution repurposed for political prisoners, now occupied by LAF forces
Northern Reach
Military Research Site
A fortified operation investigating Ground Zero and recovering valuable material
More than 15 smaller locations also arrive, including drug huts, apartment buildings, and underground tunnels. Rocky City joins the world as a new biome.
High-value loot spawns have been reduced, while more hidden stashes have been added. Reconsider routes built entirely around valuable loot and include materials needed for your Hideout.
Major Combat Outposts are temporarily decommissioned as contestable locations. Minor COPs have been redistributed, and Vulture is now a regular vendor accessible at base camp or COPs.
Performance, Audio, and Quality-of-Life Fixes
The technical Gray Zone Warfare patch notes include an upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.7, HDR support, memory-leak fixes, and fewer hitches and stutters. Performance gains reach up to 10% higher FPS in internal benchmarks.
The update also addresses AMD RDNA 4 performance problems, a DLSS Frame Generation crash, and more than 100 other crashes. A fix for NVIDIA app recognition addresses an issue associated with blurred visuals.
Recheck your display settings after transitioning between updates, since certain settings reset to defaults.
Audio changes include revised M4 and AK gunfire, improved surface-dependent footsteps, and clearer distant gunfire across different ranges. Continuous voice chat no longer has a 30-second limit.
Other practical changes include:
Excessive carried weight now prevents movement.
The interaction widget warns when inventory space is insufficient.
Terrain around base camps has been adjusted to prevent hostile hillside sniping into camp.
Safe zones at Wildcat, Atlas, and Ripcord COPs have been adjusted.
Players receive notifications when someone they reported is suspended.
Watch your carried weight while collecting construction supplies. An overloaded character cannot move, making inventory management part of the return trip.
